Objective

Under article 2 of our articles of association, the foundation’s objective is to bridge, in a demand-driven manner, the gap between medical institutions and hospitals that have a surplus of medical equipment, logistical resources or training resources, and healthcare institutions in regions worldwide where access to such equipment, resources or training is limited or absent. The foundation pursues the public benefit and does not aim to make a profit.

Policy plan

Our policy plan for 2026–2029 describes our objective, activities, sources of income, spending policy and asset management. In brief:

  • Activities: mapping the needs of recipient institutions; partnering with donor institutions; assessing, testing and refurbishing equipment; coordinating logistics and customs; building a local partner network; and providing training and technical support.
  • Income: subsidies, gifts and donations from individuals, companies and institutions (including European funding programmes), contributions from donor institutions, and fundraising.
  • Spending: at least 75–85% of annual expenditure goes directly to the objective. Fundraising costs should not exceed about 20% of funds raised.
  • Assets: the continuity reserve is capped at about one year of budgeted operating costs. Funds are held with a Dutch bank and are not invested speculatively.

Board

  • Dani Smith: Chair
  • Kees Oost: Secretary
  • Unisa Kanu: Treasurer

Remuneration policy

Board members receive no remuneration for their work. They may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out their duties.
